Douglas County Hospital:
Douglas County Hospital is a 127-bed acute care hospital located in the heart of Minnesota’s lake country. The hospital is classified as a Medicare Rural Referral Center and serves approximately 150,000 people in west central Minnesota. The hospital provides a wide range of primary care and specialty services including orthopedics, urology, ophthalmology, general surgery, OB/GYN, ENT, pediatrics, pain management, spine surgery, podiatry and hospitalist program. The hospital also has specialized programs in radiation oncology, medical oncology and kidney dialysis. Douglas County Hospital is accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program. In 2002 and 2008, Douglas County Hospital was named as one of the nation’s Top 100 Hospitals.
In August 2008, the hospital broke ground on a new four-floor 110,000 square foot addition on the southeast side of the current facility. The first floor will be clinic space leased to Heartland Orthopedics and a new main entrance/lobby, the second floor includes 34 private inpatient rooms, and the third floor will be a new Obstetrics Unit. This new state-of-the-art facility positions DCH to meet the population growth and increased healthcare needs of the region for the next 30-40 years. The $31 million expansion project was completed in early fall, 2010.

Heartland Orthopedic Specialists:
Heartland Orthopedic Specialists P.S. has six board certified orthopedic surgeons and a board certified podiatrist that service West Central Minnesota’s orthopedic needs, specializing in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of Musculoskeletal system conditions. Such conditions include bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscles while also treating injuries involving the hand/wrist, upper & lower extremities, sports medicine related injuries, joint replacements, foot/ankle, and arthroscopic surgeries. In addition, the clinic also employs Physician Assistants, Physical Therapists, and Athletic Trainers to help assist in providing quality patient care.
In addition to the services offered through the main clinic located in Alexandria, our physicians travel to satellite locations such as ACMC in Willmar, Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, Prairie Medical Associates in Morris, and Appleton Municipal Hospital.
